I took the truck to Karas Collision Repair in Thornton, Colorado, to have the lower control arm mount pushed back into place and rewelded. They charged me $600 for this work. When discussing the repairs with the shop after they were completed, I asked some key questions:

Is the mount back in place?
Is it within factory specifications?
Did you measure it?

All three of which were answered with "yeah". So I installed the new ball joints and tie rod ends and took it to an alignment shop. 45 minutes into the alignment I get pulled into the bay and the tech states "we can't finish the alignment because this lower control arm mount is bent." It's the same control arm mount I paid Karas Collision Repair to fix. It's not just slightly out of place, like the shop may have fudged a little. No, it's deflected two inches inward. The alignment shop does what it can to set camber. I've lost all caster and still have 2.8 degrees of positive camber.

I called the shop multiple times and did not get any response. This morning, I called again and talked with Josh. He says they did the work on the ground - basically just welding the mount back into place. They didn't put the truck in the air, they didn't measure their work, and they didn't move the mount in much at all! If they had have even eyeballed it with the truck in the air, they'd see the MASSIVE ANGLE the mount is still sitting at. Six hundred dollars I've wasted in this venture. At this time, they are offering nothing - except I can bring the truck back in and pay another couple hundred dollars just for them to put it in the air and inspect their work.

The worst part about this is that I've blown the budget for getting this truck in usable shape. What was originally supposed to be $450 for the mount repair turned into $600. What was supposed to be $500 for tires turned into $695. What was supposed to be $200 for suspension components turned into almost $300. We don't have the funds to continue any further. So, just like Project Dauphne - the Saab 900 SPG, Project Thanks Obama is on indefinite hiatus until I find a better job. Hope the wife can stand riding the bus for a while longer.

File a complaint with BBB then take them to small claims court. Just filing that suit in all honesty will probably be enough for them to either refund your money or fix it correctly.

Yup that is a shitty shop and I would definitely throw a shit fit but not give them anymore money. You may want to try calling the BBB and complaining about the work the business is doing.

Take you car back, demand it to be fixed to specs you asked for, require them to flip the bill for the re-alignment, or compensate you for the original alignment.

They have no right, what-so-ever to re-charge you for it, you negotiated a verbal contract with them to restore the mount to its original specification, they agreed to a price of 600USD, they are now bound to uphold that.

The agreed price wasn't 600 until after the truck was dropped off! I was quoted $450 to start off with, and that included time on the alignment rack.

That sucks. You wonder how they could even do it on the ground. I would question the quality of the weld as well.

Off the subject. Is it the person is a whack and has a poo brain or like hitting them (whack) with a poo brain?

You have the original quote in writing?

I've been wondering that as well, considering the paint they used is already chipping off.

I agree, and make sure that you get the summons delivered in their busy hours. Also, you might give a thought to standing out in front of their shop with great big sign, saying that they were overcharging you to do inadequate work. Name names, quote numbers.

BOOOO!

is it just the arm that is bent? if so can you replace the arm? Or is it some sort of mount actually on the chassis that need correcting, a non-replaceable part?

Arm is good. All components are good. It's just the control arm mount - it mounts the lower control arm rear joint and the torsion bar to the frame.
